Yang Tan

Born in Singapore.
Yang picked up photography as a hobby in his late teens, learning the basics from his amateur photographer uncle. Subsequently, he started attending part-time photography and darkroom classes as his hobby gradually developed into a passion. On weekends, he would transform his own bedroom into a darkroom, spending an entire day developing and printing his own black & white photographs.

For the next 2 years, he learnt his craft in the advertising industry, working alongside his clients and the agency’s creative teams. By the second year, he was promoted to Account Manager.
Despite enjoying his work, he did not forget his passion for photography, and so after 2 years, he decided to embark on a new chapter of his career.
Yang headed to New York City to begin his formal training as a photographer at the renowned School Of Visual Arts (SVA). After 4 years, Yang graduated, with distinction, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Photography.
